Greetings Precious saints of God, brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus and welcome back to this instructive study of 1st John. The Lord is so good.
James 1:13-17 (KJV)
13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
16 Do not err, my beloved brethren.
17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
Let us get this down inside of us, God is good, the problems in our finances, our bodies, and so on is not authored by God, nor the devil, we ourselves are the author by the thoughts of our mind and the words of our mouth. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text continuing to read out loud.
1 John 2:28-29 (KJV)
28 And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.
29 If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.
As I am sure you are aware the word “abide” or “abideth” occurs frequently in the King James Version of the New Testament. This simply means to stay (in a given place, state, relation or expectancy), abide, continue, dwell, endure, be present, remain, stand, and tarry (for) according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. This particular word is used 120 times in the New Testament translated as abide 61 times, remain 16, dwell 15, continue 11, tarry 9, endure 3, miscellaneous translations 5 for a total count of 120 according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. Why do we do this? So that we will have confidence or faith at His coming and not be ashamed knowing we had failed in various areas. This is not a natural life first and Kingdom life second. How many of us talked to the Lord before we decided on a career or a job? Who decided on what we are doing right now? Every one of us will stand before Him and give an answer for every area of our lives.
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 (KJV)
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
What did we do with our “pounds” and “talents”? Do we consider our job as working for the Lord, as part of our ministry in the earth? Are we working for a paycheck or to better the business and be a service to other people? We are born to first serve the Lord and that will always include serving other people, the Lord is in the people business.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next Friday. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
