THE KINGDOM OF GOD – PART TWENTY
HEARING BEFORE FAITH

Greetings dear ones and welcome back to this essential study of the Kingdom of God and repentance. Why is it essential? It is essential because this is what Jesus talked about most of the time. If it was important to Him, it is vital that we seek to understand every aspect of the Kingdom of God and repentance following in His footsteps. One might ask, why do you keep bringing up repentance. I keep bringing it up because Jesus did. There are many things in each of our lives that we believe to be the Truth and are not. We must locate, identify those things and we must repent. As we move forward let’s again review our anchor, Scripture.
Matthew 6:33 (KJV)
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Once again, I implore each and every one of us to ask ourselves before God if this describes us. Is the Kingdom of God and His righteousness our primary aim, our first priority every day? Do we spend an allocated time with God and then the rest of the day we have planned and according to our will? Do we ever ask Him if there is something He wants us to do today or are we afraid He might say yes there is. Now, let’s move into our next Scripture.
Matthew 9:35-38 (NKJV)
35 Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.
36 But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd.
37 Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few.
38 Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”
Something I want you to notice that is critical is found in verse thirty-five but that is not an isolated instance. Notice the preaching came before the healing? How does faith come? It comes by hearing, hearing the rhema (anointed spoken Word of God) of God according to Romans 10:17. I can identify with verse thirty-six. The people Jesus is talking about are Jews and the synagogue was the center of life in that day. It wasn’t like they didn’t have a preacher; they didn’t have a preacher of Truth. And so, it is today in too many cases.
As we go forward in our Matthew Nine text, we find that the harvest was great in the day of Jesus and the laborers were few. Has anything changed? Are we praying for more laborers for the great harvest?
TAKE HOME:
- People must hear before they have faith.
- Are you hearing the Truth at Church and in your small groups? Are you sure? Are you a good Berean (Acts 17:11)?
- There are many standing in the Church as leaders (Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors, and Teachers) but how many are the real deal. Seems that if they were all the real deal the potential harvest would be smaller.
As the Lord wills I will pick up right here with our study of the Kingdom of God next Saturday. The Lord is good, He is not the source of our problems, neither is the devil, and He cannot lie! God loves you; we love you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
